ACMPE Enhancements

Scenario-Based Exam – The Exam Development Committee has designed an objectively scored, scenario-based exam to replace the current essay exam. This new exam will fully replace the essay exam in September 2017, the multiple-choice exam will stay as is. Updates to note:

  • The new exam will consist of 18-25 scenarios, each followed by three to four questions that focus on critical skills/knowledge a candidate would be expected to show in the described situation. The 90 questions are presented as multi-select, multiple choice, short answer, or drag and drop matching.

Eligibility Requirements - As of January 2019, the qualifications to apply for ACMPE certification will change. In addition to requiring two years of healthcare experience, and six months in a supervisory role, applicants will be required to hold a bachelor’s degree or 120 college credit hours upon applying.

For further information or questions in regards to the updates, please reach out to Kelly Suskie at 501-912-2394 or, Marynell Lubinski at 305-514-8522 or of the Certification Commission.
